Empowering Future Leaders: DBTH Nurses and Midwives Graduate from Transformational Leadership Programme

A group of senior nurses and midwives at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) recently marked a major milestone — the completion of a six-month transformational leadership programme.

Held at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, the graduation ceremony celebrated the dedication, innovation, and leadership shown by these healthcare professionals as they step confidently into roles that will shape the future of patient care.

This bespoke programme was designed to empower clinical leaders to drive positive change, improve the quality of care, and promote a more inclusive working environment across the Trust.

One of the highlights of the course was a series of real-world improvement projects, developed and delivered by participants. These initiatives applied Quality Improvement (QI) principles, focusing on better, safer, and more efficient care delivery.

Many projects also addressed health inequalities, working toward a fairer healthcare experience for all patients, regardless of their background or personal circumstances.

All projects were anchored in the ‘DBTH Way’ — a guiding set of values that encourages kindness, teamwork, and exceptional patient care.

Reflecting on the impact of the programme, Professor Sam Debbage, Director of Education and Research at DBTH, shared:

“This programme is part of our broader commitment to leadership development. It supports our strategic ambition to become a leading centre for research and education, aligned with our refreshed vision: Healthier Together – Delivering Exceptional Care for All.

Congratulations to all our graduates for their hard work, vision, and commitment to making a difference.
